Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the rigidity of an instrument panel, by providing projection members on a bracket for securing a steering shaft in the manner such that the projection members extend toward the bottom surface of a concave section of the instrument panel for housing an instrument. CONSTITUTION:The concave section 10a having no notch for housing an instrument 2 over the bracket 1 for securing a steering shaft is formed in the instrument panel 10, and the projection members 11 that extend toward the bottom surface of the concave section 10a are formed on the bracket 1 for securing steering shaft. Thus, if the car collides with something, and the panel 10 is displaced down, the bottom surface of the concave section 10a is broken by the projection member 1 so that the energy of the shock is absorbed, the rigidity of the panel 10 is improved so that it would not oscillate, and the instrument 2 can be set precisely.
