Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption and improve the efficiency, by making the current supplied from a series regulator to a load constant and supplying most of the load current by the output current from a switching regulator. CONSTITUTION:The output side of a switching regulator 1 is connected to an output terminal 2. The output side of a series regulator 3 is connected to the output terminal 2 through a low resistor 4 for current detection. The output terminal 2 is grounded through a load RL. In this case, a current I1 from the switching regulator 1 and a current I2 from the series regulator 2 are supplied to the load RL, and a load voltage, namely, an output voltage becomes Vo. A voltage obtained between both ends of the low resistor 4 is supplied to the input side of a comparator 5. A signal corresponding to the voltage supplied to the input side is outputted from the output side of the comparator 5 and is supplied as a control signal to the switching regulator 1.
