Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a pump, economical, free of noises and simple in structure, by constituting a pump by inserting a piezoelectric wire hermetically into a casing, said piezo-electric wire being of the type which causes volume change when a voltage is impressed thereto, and causing volume change of the wire by impressing AC voltage to the same. CONSTITUTION:A piezo-electric wire 3 inserted into a pump casing 2 hermetically by use of a packing 14 has a piezo-electric material 3c charged between a center electrode 3a and an outer electrode 3b, and the outer surface of the outer electrode 3b is covered with an insulating coating 3d. With such an arrangement, when AC voltage is impressed on the wire 3 by a power source 4, the wire 3 causes expansion and contraction alternately. Therefore, fluid introduced into the casing 2 at the time of contraction of the wire 3 by forcing open a valve 7 of a suction port 5 is discharged to the outside with expansion of the wire 3 by forcing open a valve 8 connected to a discharge chamber 11.
