CONSTITUTION:A solid luminous element array 4 is so provided that it makes reciprocating motions with adequate strokes in the secondary scanning directions shown by arrows A and A' by means of an appropriate mechanism. Moreover, an image forming lens 5 as the image forming optical system is so provided that it makes reciprocating motions with a prescribed stroke in the main scanning directions B and B' which are perpendicular to the secondary scanning directions A and A' by means of an appropriate mechanism. When, for example, the movement of the solid luminous element array 4 in the secondary scanning direction A and the movement of the image forming lens 5 in the main scanning direction B are composited while a photosensitive body 2 is stopped, the image is moved toward the lower right. Therefore, the main scanning and the secondary scanning are simultaneously performed in this invention, and the exposure scanning becomes quicker.
