Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten a time for fitting a steering shaft and a steering joint by providing a jig capable of easily setting serration engagement between both of them at the predetermined relative positions. CONSTITUTION:A jig is made up of both semicircular holder 6 and lid 7 which are connected at a thin portion C and able to take an open or closure position if required. Serrations 6a, 7a are formed through the internal faces of the holder 6 and the lid 7, respectively and a projection 9 which can penetrate into a clearance 10 of a joint yoke is formed in the middle of the lid 7. After a steering shaft 2 is engaged with the serration 6a at a certain position, the lid 7 is closed and the projection 9 is then brought into the clearance 10 of the joint yoke for engagement therewith. Under the condition a push of the steering shaft toward the joint yoke allows serration engagement between both of them at the predetermined relative positions.
