Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit a smooth starting operation of a transverter with a small current without inserting an interphase reactor, by performing the starting operation by means of a single rectifier unit. CONSTITUTION:Because in a small-current operation, the generation amount of high frequencies is negligible even if the rectification is not 12-phase rectification but 6-phase rectification, the starting operation is performed by using only one of two 6-phase rectifying units. Therefor, the other rectifying unit is opened, or in case of rectifying units, SCRs, one SCR is stopped from firing. Thereby, no circulating current is generated, a smooth starting operation can be performed with a given small current.
