Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a cathode-ray tube which forms a long spot deformed perpendicularly to the scanning direction upon a picture surface, and which can correct not only the inclination of the spot caused when electron beams are deflected toward the peripheral part of the picture surface but also the distortion of the spot itself. CONSTITUTION:A first magnetic tetrode 20, which is used for correcting the inclination of a beam spot at the peripheral part of the picture surface of a CRT1, is installed at a neck 2 of the CRT1, for example, near the position of the Z-axis direction of a third grid electrode 8. On the other hand, a second magnetic tetrode 30, which is used for correcting an S-shaped distortion of the above beam spot, is installed near the back end of the Z-axis direction of a deflecting part 15, for example, in the space formed between the back end of a vertical deflection coil 16 and the back end of a horizontal deflection coil 17. Therefore, when this is applied to, especially, a beam-indexing CRT which has not any aperture grill or shadow mask, the beam spot is securely included by a fluorescent stripe corresponding to a display cell formed on a fluorescent screen. As a result, the quality of the picture can be increased by preventing any deterioration of the color purity and the resolution.
