PURPOSE:To provide a multi-function electronic timepiece that is excellent in easiness of operation by providing on the display face of an electron-optical element a mode display section that corresponds to the transparent touch switch for mode selection and at the same time conducting a specified display of places for each of function modes. CONSTITUTION:Electro-optical display elements 14 and 16 for display of hour and minute by two places are formed at a display section 10. In a mode display section 12 liquid crystal display sections are provided that correspond to the function modes of present time, alarm, timer and stop watch. Further, at the positions of the display section 12 that overlap individual displays corresponding to transparent mode selection touches 18p, 18a, 18t and 18s are provided for lighting the mode display section that corresponds to a selected mode. Furthermore, a display of place displays 20 and 22 is selectively lighted so as to make the reading of electron-optical display elements 14 and 16 easy.
