Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to separate the width variation in tape width or the snaking in running, by sensing the displacement of the points at both edge of the running tape by a displacement sensor employing light transmitting type optical fiber having rectangular area divisions. CONSTITUTION:An upper tape edge light guide 8 and lower tape edge light guide 9 are arranged at the upper edge 6 and the lower edge 7 of the tape 5, respectively. Opposing edge sensors 10 and 11 for the upper and lower edges of the tape are arranged, respectively. Said edge sensors 10 and 11 for the upper and lower edges of the tape have light receiving patterns, wherein the optical fiber is divided into rectangular areas. Said patterns are operated and processed by an analog operating circuit. The displacement of the tape edges are measured with resolution of 1mu, and separation of the width variation caused by the tape and the snaking amount caused by a tape running device can be performed.
