Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the uniform heating and reaction, and to obtain the titled resin suitable as a mold for casting, by heating a phenol, an aldehyde, and an alkali catalyst so that the reaction is carried out to the A stage, heating the reaction product by high frequency so that the reaction is done upto the B stage.
CONSTITUTION: A phenol (e.g., carbolic acid, etc.) is blended with an aldehyde (e.g., formaldehyde, etc.) and an alkali catalyst (e.g., ammonia, etc.) in a reactor, and reacted upto the A stage by heating. The reaction product is heated by high frequency (e.g., electronic range, etc.) and reacted upto the B stage to give a condensate (a weight-average molecular weight of about 1,000W1,900), which is cooled and solidified, to give a solid resin (form example, one having an weight-average molecular weight of 1,200W2,000, a melting point of 55W80°C, a gel time of 60W180sec, a flow of 50W120mm, and a breaking strength of ≥40kg/ cm2).
