Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a color picture tube having a structure for holding a shadow mask providing a larger effective surface area, being easily assembled, and ensuring high dimensional accuracy. CONSTITUTION:A semi-cylindrical reference stud 9 is arranged in each corner of the panel 8 of a color image receiving tube. Each reference stud 9 is composed of ceramics whose heat expansion coefficient is roughly equal to that of glass constituting the panel 8, the stud being allowed to stick, with flit material, to a recess provided inside the panel 8. The side wall 11b of a concave 11 of the shadow mask 10 has a curvature radius larger than that of the side wall 9b of the reference stud 9 and contacts that side wall 9b. Moreover, the side wall 11b presses itself against the above side wall 9b by its own elasticity and by the pressure the panel 8 of the shadow mask 10 is fixed. In the color picture tube thus constructed, the shadow mask is readily mounted, whereas high dimensional accuracy is secured.
