Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable effective detection of the change of tension by compensating the output voltage of the tension detector under zero tension condition to an allowable range. CONSTITUTION:Prior to the use of a VTR, drift of the detected voltage e1 of the tension detector 10 is compensated to be within the predetermined range, for example 20mv. The said compensation is performed under the condition that the tape 4 of the VTR is not drawn out of the casette 1, or the condition that the tape 4 is not contacted with the detection element 10a of the detector 10. Therefore, the detector 10 detects the zero tension, and setting the correct detected voltage under this condition e1 to be zero, the detected voltage e1 varies to positive or negative direction with the drift, if it is presented; and it is constructed to make the value is compensated to be within + 20mv. By this arrangement fine change of the tension can be detected with normal tension detector.
