Abstract

PURPOSE: A specific weight amount of fine glass beads and another specific weight amount of borosilicate glass powder are mixed, calcined, formed to produce the titled carrier that permits the measurement of zero-order enzymatic reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Fine glass beads (100pts.wt.) and a powder of borosilicate glass (20W70pts.wt) are mixed, charged in a mold of desired form, pressed lightly and calcined at about 400W700°C for about 10min whereby the borosilicate glass powder melts to fix the form. An enzyme is immobilized on the resultant carrier by a usual enzyme immobilization method such as the glutaraldehyde method and enzymatic reaction is conducted using the immobilized enzyme.
