Abstract

PURPOSE:To conquer difficulty in leading out a lead wire by providing a transparent insulating layer on the surface of electrooptic crystal provided with transparent electrodes, and then providing the lead wire on it. CONSTITUTION:On one surface of electrooptic crystal 1, annular transparent electrodes 21-2n are provided and over the other entire surface, a grounded transparent electrode 4 is provided. The crystal surface on the side of the transparent electrodes 21-2n is further covered with a transparent insulating layer 9, on which lead wires are provided. Those lead wires and annular transparent electrodes are grounded correspondingly through holes made in the transparent insulating layer. This constitution decreases the intensity of an electric field in the crystal, depending upon the lead wires, by the thickness of the insulator layer to reduce the disorder of electric field distribution due to the lead wires, and also prevents the crossing and interference of the lead wires and electrodes with regard to an electrode pattern in an optional shape.
