Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the reproduction efficiency, by shortening almost a magnetic shield section and a magnetoresistance effect element at the rear end magnetically and preventing the leakage of signal magnetic flux passing through the magnetoresistance effect element. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetoresistance effect head, a ferromagnetic base 11 provided with a notch 10 for a part, in place of a conventional magnetic shield plate and the base, is used and on the notch 11, an insulation layer 3a, a magnetoresistance effect element 2, an insulation layer 3b and a magnetic shield layer 4b are sequentially formed and the ferromagnetic substance base 11 is placed close to the rear end B of the element 2. That is, the magnetic reluctance at the rear end B is relatively made small by placing the ferromagnetic base 11 close to the rear end B of the element 2, then the passing of signal magnetic flux can effectively be made and a magnetoresistance effect head with high reproduction efficiency can be obtained.
