Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform stable welding having no variances in joint strength by subjecting metals which are joined of a surface having a projecting part and are superposed by giving ultrasonic oscillation energy thereto to solid phase welding. CONSTITUTION:A projecting part is formed to the leading end part of one material 8 out of materials 6, 8 to be welded consisting of the same or dissimilar kinds of metallic materials and both materials 6, 8 are superposed by joining the projecting part thereof to the leading end of the other material 6. While the superposed parts are fixed and pressurized by a lower anvil 4 from below, ultrasonic oscillations are transmitted from an oscillator, not shown, to the superposed parts via an upper tip 3 from above. The projecting part is joined in solid phase to the material 6 at the stable joined surface 11 while it is pressurized irrespectively of the shape 9 of the tip 3, whereby the welding having no variances in joint strength is formed. It is also effective to provide projecting parts on the joined surfaces of both metallic materials 6, 8.
