Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the crumbling of dam, etc., by absorbing and dissipating the energy of tidal wave by a method in which a hollow chamber is formed in a block body, and breakwater holes are formed in the walls of the block in such a way as to connect the chamber with the outside. CONSTITUTION:A hollow chamber 2 is formed in a breakwater block body of a box shape, and breakwater holes 3 are provided in each wall of the block body 1 in such a way as to connect the chamber 2 with the outside. Leg pieces 4 are projectionally provided to each outer wall of the block body 1. Coming tidal wave freely comes in and out of the breakwater holes 3, and the energy of the tidal wave is absorbed and dissipated in the chamber 2, resulting in the reduction of wave force and reflecting wave and also the prevention of overflowing wave and scouring. These effects can be more raised by providing such blocks as cobble stones, etc., in the chamber 2.
