Abstract
PURPOSE:To secure stored data even during the interruption of file formation processing by writing an indication, showing occupation, in a scheduled data block when a file is defined, and the rewriting the occupation indication into a different indication once data is written therein. CONSTITUTION:The storage part of a file device 5 is divided into data blocks of constant-length size; and blocks assigned to files are chained, file by file and empty blocks are chained into one. For file formation regarding input information transferred from an input equipment 4 to a main storage device 8, a specified number of empty blocks are unchained from empty blocks in the file device 6 to form a block chain for a new file, and thus empty block chains are renewed; and a file end indication is written in a data block assigned to the new file. Then, opening processing of the file is performed to write the input data, and control information is added before the data. Even if a system fault occurs during data input operation, effective data are discriminated by checking the control information on each data block in the chain.
