Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively remove an offensive smell, harmful gas, and the like, produced from an electric appliance, by providing a filling-up part for a catalyst, which is barium titanate with semiconductive properties supporting metal, and a heating means to heat the filling-up part for a catalyst, to a flue of domestic, electric appliance which discharge an offensive smell and others. CONSTITUTION:When this appliance is installed in a clothing dryer, a catalyst 13 is fitted to a part of drying flue 12 which is provided to a part of main body 11 of a clothing dryer, arranged so as to be heated by a heater 14. The catalyst 13 is prepared to carry metal or metal oxide to a barium titanate which has semiconductive properties by adding rare earth elements therto. As for rare earth elements, such as La and Ce can favorably be used, and their admixing quantity is to be around 0.1-0.3% by weight to the whole weight of the catalyst. As to a metal or metal oxide to be supported by a barium titanate, Pt, Pd, MnO2, and the like can be used, for instance. Such catalysts as mentioned above make the temperature control unnecessary, because they show positive resistance change to the change in temperature.
