Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of facilities by installing a carrier detector for detecting the carrier of an audio out-band signal that a subscriber sends to a center device, and then connecting a free modem after detecting said signal by the detector. CONSTITUTION:An audio out-band signal sent out of a telephone set which has a transmitting and receiving function for the audio outband signal is detected through a subscriber circuit 2 by a carrier detector 3, and its information is led to a CPU12 through a controller 5. The CPU12 searches for a free modem 7 and then opens the switch of a channel switch network 11 to connect the modem 7. As a result, the need to provide modems, installed in a center device for the transmission and reception of the audio outband signal, corresponding to subscribers is eliminated and this is used in common by plural subscribers, thus reducing the cost of the facilities greatly.
