Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of speed change shock by first shifting down the speed to one step lower stage and then shifting it up when the speed change gear is shifted down to the stage on which engine brake acts. CONSTITUTION:When shift range is set to D range so as to set speed change stage, it is judged whether or not requirement for D1 is achieved. The requirement D1 means that the speed change stage should be shifted down to the third speed from over-drive when the opening of a throttle is zero. When the requirement D1 is satisfied, command D1 is generated. The object of this command D1 is not to shift down the speed change stage from over drive directly to the third speed, but to shift the speed first down to the second speed and then shift it up to the third speed after a predetermined set time elapses.
