Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent chattering of a swing check valve by inserting a packing around the hinge shaft for damping a hinge shaft rotation and constituting so that the friction resistance on the hinge shaft can be adjusted by compressing the packing from the outside. CONSTITUTION:A hinge shaft 2 of a swing check valve is extended outward from a valve housing, and is surrounded by a packing 4 inserted into a packing storage chamber 3 made in one body with the valve housing. An adjusting shaft 5 is fitted in the packing storage chamber 3 as movable back and forth. A packing 18 is provided to prevent the fluid from leaking through a gap between the adjusting shaft 5 and a bonnet 16. When a rear end section 53 is rotated by use of a monkey wrench, etc., the adjusting shaft 5 is moved forward or backward changing the tightening pressure of the packing, and a desirable resistant force on the shaft 2 can thus be obtained.
