Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain high-speed performance through a simple analog modulating/ demodulating circuit, by setting the carrier frequency of a picture signal on an area in which large distortion generates in a transmission line of the transmitting side and providing the receiving side with an automatic equalizing circuit. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal photoelectrically converted from the black- and-white information of a transmitted original is ternary-converted by a ternary-converting circuit 11 and the carrier frequency is amplituded and pulse- modulated in a modulating part 12. In this case, the carrier frequency is set to about 3,000Hz in which large distortion generates in the transmission line. The modulated signal is vestigial side band (VSB)-shaped by a VSB filber 14 and sent to the transmission line. In the receiving side, a clear demodulated signal is obtained through a filter 21, an automatic gain controlling (AGC) circuit 22, an automatic equalizing circuit 23, and a demodulating part 24. Consequently, signals can be transmitted quickly by increasing the carrier frequency until the influence of line distortion is largely exerted.
