Abstract

PURPOSE:To absorb the cut parts of tapes onto an insulator without being curled for properly splicing them in a device for splicing the cut end ecges of, for example, magnetic tapes together, by charging the insulator for receiving the cut parts of the tapes, with static electricity. CONSTITUTION:Tapes 4, 5 to be spliced are overlapped together on a tape bed 1, and the overlapped portions are cut by a cutter 2 with the unnecessary parts 4b, 5b being taken away. Then a resilient insulator 3 on the tape bed 1 is charged from a static electricity generator 9 by turning-on an electrical supply 10, and therefore the tapes 4a, 5a, remained on the tape bed 1, to be spliced are absorbed onto the resilient insulator 3 so that the coincidence of the cut ends of both tapes 4a, 5a are maintained in a perferable condition. In this state, an adhesive tape 12 is applied to the splicing position 11 of the tapes 4a, 5a thereby the splicing work is completed.
