Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the period of time required for releasing a foamed polyurethane molded body from a mold and contrive to enhance productivity by forcibly cooling a polyurethane after the time of the maximum foaming pressure, when reforming the polyurethane being foamed in a frame to the final shape by intermittently exerting a pressure. CONSTITUTION:During reforming by intermittently exerting a pressure, a piercing plate 19a is lowered to pierce cooling holes 25 in the foamed polyurethane 5 by piercing needles 22. Before or after the piercing operation, a gas is blown to the foamed polyurethane 5 by a blower 21 after the time of the maximum foaming pressure of the polyurethane 5. The heat of reaction of the foamed polyurethane 5 is removed by the heat radiating effect of the holes 25, so that the entire body including the interior is cooled at a uniform rate. While the polymer strength is rapidly increased, the gas pressure in cells of the foamed polyurethane is rapidly lowered, the foaming pressure determined by the balance of the two is relatively reduced, and the residual foaming pressure is lowered to a target value in a short period of time.
