Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a large torque with a small-sized actuator by alternately repeating the securing and separating operations of a shaft to a frame due to the elongation and contraction of the first laminated layer type piezoelectric unit and the relative rotation of the shaft with respect to the frame due to the elongation and contraction of the second laminated layer type piezoelectric unit. CONSTITUTION:The first laminated layer type piezoelectric units 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b are composed of cylindrical laminated layer type piezoelectric elements 11, a casing 12 for holding the element 11, and spacers 13 engaged via ultrafine gaps at both sides of the casing 12 and urged in contact with or separated from the inner surface of an end face member 1b of the frame 1. The second laminated layer type piezoelectric units 8a-8d are composed of sector-shaped laminated layer type piezoelectric element 15, a casing 16 and spacers 17. A rotary force can be produced at the shaft 2 by the elongations and the contractions of the units 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b; and 8a-8d.
