Abstract

PURPOSE:To previously detect ink breaking and to relieve a burden applied to an operator, by a method wherein an ink moving distance proportioning an ink consumption amount is accumulated, and when the value exceeds a preset value, an alarm is sounded. CONSTITUTION:When a main power source turns ON, a total distance, for which a pen 4 has moved so far and which is stored in a memory circuit 17, is read and is set in an accumulator 14. A type of the unit moving direction of the pen is then deduced by a direction detecting circuit 11 corresponding to the X- forward instruction and the Y-forward instruction of the pen 4. Furthermore, a root 1 or 2 is read by a numeral selecting circuit 13 corresponding to signals in up, down, right, and left directions from a gate G3 and a signal in an oblique direction from a gate G4 to accumulate it to an accumulator 14. If the contents of the accumulator 14 exceed a reference value previously set by a reference value setter 15, an alarm output ALARM is outputted by a comparator 16.
