Abstract

PURPOSE:To have a mirror drive device with secure operation, which can be also operated by hand, by such a simple construction that a screw rod is installed led on the mirror rotatably and tiltably and that this screw rod is coupled with a worm wheel slidably. CONSTITUTION:When the motor 6 is driven with a solenoid 13 out of energization, rotation of the motor shaft 9 is transmitted to a screw rod 18 through a movable clutch 12 and a worm 8 and wheel worm 15. Then, a spring 21 in engagement with this screw rod 18 acts as a nut to advance or retract with respect to the base plate 2, whereby the mirror 3 is tilted with a retainer 5 as fulcrum. If the solenoid 13 is energized, by contrast, the movable clutch 12 meshes with the dog clutch part 10 instead of the dog clutch part 11 as before. When the motor 6 is, in this condition, driven again, another screw rod 17 advances or retracts at this time to tilt the mirror 3.
