PURPOSE:To miniaturize the size of a boiler, as well as to prevent the boiler from breakage by the burst caused by clinker, by connecting the inlet side of cooling pipes for a plurality of hoppers constructing the bottom of a furnace, to a coal economizer, and the outlet side to the piping in the peripheral wall of a furnace. CONSTITUTION:The bottom of a furnace is divided into several number of small hoppers 13, each one of hoppers 13 is connected respectively to an ash discharge port, and the tilt angle of a hopper is set to larger than the angle of repose of ash. In such a structure, the feed water from a coal economizer is introduced into the pipe 14 in the welded wall through inlet headers 12 at the bottom of a furnace, so that the temperature at the bottom of a furnace, that is the whole hopper structure, is kept low. The feed water, heated by passing through the bottom of a furnace, is fed into the peripheral wall 16 of a furnace through headers 15.
