Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve electric power efficiency and distortion factor characteristics by connecting a PWM type power amplifying circuit to a class "A" or "B" power amplifying circuit in parallel in an audio power amplifying circuit, and adding their outputs on an output side after passing them through an LPF and an HPF respectively.
CONSTITUTION: An input signal applied to an input terminal 10 is amplified by a PWM amplifying circuit 19 consisting of a pulse-width modulating circuit composed of a triangular-wave generating circuit 12 and a comparator 13, a pulse amplifier 14, a pulse-width modulating switching circuit 16 energized by a DC power source 15, and an LPF17, sending an acoustic output to a load 21 through an output terminal 20. The signal from the terminal 10, on the other hand, also appears at a terminal 20 through a class "A" or "B" power amplifying circuit 25 having a gain equal to that of the circuit 19 and an HPF26. The LPF17 and HPF26 are band split filters which have crossover at an about 1KHz relatively- low frequency, and their composite characteristics are flat over the entire range. Thus, the power amplifying circuit has superior power efficiency and superior acoustic characteristics such as power efficiency.
