Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a serum separating agent that prevents blood cells from being mixed with serum, facilitates injection into a blood collector and prevents a specimen from moving about in the blood collector during transportation by using a styrene (co)polymer having viscous fluidity and a prescribed specific gravity. CONSTITUTION:A syrene (co)polymer having viscous fluidity and a specific gravity of 1.035-1.065 is effectively used as a serum separating agent. As the styrene copolymer, a styrene/(meth)acrylate copolymer is suitable and the specific gravity and vicosity can be properly controlled by changing the copolymerization ratio of the (meth)acrylate to styrene. The serum separating agent thus obtained prevents blood cells from being mixed with serum, facilitates injection into a blood collector and prevents a specimem from moving about in the blood collector during transportation. In addition, because this agent does not react with protein, enzyme, lipid, inorganic ions and the like contained in the blood, accurate results of inspection are available.
