Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a packing with excellent analyzability, by a method wherein a copolymer of a (meth)acrylate and a (meth)acrylamide derivative is chemically combined with the surface of silica gel, alumina, or diatomite. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer of a (meth)acrylate of formulaI(where R is H, methyl; R1 is 1-12C alkyl, halogen-substituted alkyl, hydroxy-substituted alkyl), e.g., methyl (meth)acrylate, and an N-substituted (meth)acrylamide of formula II (where R is the same as above; R2 is H, 1-14C alkyl), orI, II and an unsaturated carboxylic acid (e.g., (meth)acrylic acid) or a vinyl monomer containing a phosphono group (e.g., 2-phosphonoethyl acrylate) is used to coat the surface of silica gel, alumina, or diatomite and then cured by heating to obtain a packing for liquid chromatography.
