PURPOSE:To enable to effect a stable control even when the operation of the engine is brought into a condition including large fluctuations in the angular revolving speed thereof by a method wherein the control of the engine is effected in accordance with the data of number of revolution being held in an operation control being effected in accordance with a plurality of operating conditions. CONSTITUTION:The data N of a revolving number register is read at each constant angle offering signal outputted by an angle sensor 146 and data N' is held sequentially in the address of a label RPM1 for an RAM106. Here, the fluctuation of the angular revolving speed has a period depending on a crank angle 180 deg. mainly and the held data N' having no variability may be obtained. This data N' is taken into the label RPM of the RAM106 by the program of the RPM1N and is utilized for the control of the engine and the like. Accordingly, the proper engine control may be effected stably even when the revolving number of the engine is comparatively low, such as at starting or the like.
