Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the extraction rate of platinum group metals in the stage of dissolving and extracting the platinum group metals deposited on inorg. porous carriers by using a hydrochloric acid contg. an oxidizing agent for extracting liquid.
CONSTITUTION: In the stage of extracting and recovering platinum group metals such as Pt, Rh, Pd and the like carried on inorg. porous carriers such spinel, zirconia and the like, the porous carriers are gournd to particles, afte which the oxidized platinum group metals are reduced by dry reduction using gaseous hydrogen or wet reduction using a ≥0.05% soln. of hydrazine, SBH, sodium formate, etc. Next, these are treated with the extracting liquid prepd. by mixing a hydrochloric acid and an oxidizing agent at 20:0.3W20:3 ratios, whereby the platinum group metals are dissolved and extracted in high yields. The hydrochloric acid of 20W35% concns. is used, and hydrogen peroxide, hypochlorite, halogen, etc. are used for the oxidizing agent. The carriers after the extraction are washed with an aq. hydrochloric acid soln. of ≥5% concn. and are reduced together with the extracting liquid by a conventional method, whereby the platinum group metals are settled and recovered.
