Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an emulsified composition for a cosmetic, by adjusting an oily phase component, an aqueous phase of a paraben or amino acid, and a clay mineral having a gelatinizing ability to a specific pH, mixing the components, and stirring the resultant mixture vigorously at a high temperature without using a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:An emulsified composition, consisting of 5-60wt% oily phase component, 40-90wt% aqueous phase component containing a paraben and/or amino acid and 0.5-5.0wt% clay mineral, e.g. synthetic hectorite, having the gelatinizing ability, each component being adjusting to a pH of 4.0-10.5 as base material components. The composition is prepared as follows: The respective components adjusted to the pH of 4.0-10.5 are mixed in a suitable order and stirred at about 70-90 deg.C, preferably about 80 deg.C, vigorously by a mixing stirrer. The resultant emulsion is then cooled or allowed to cool to give the aimed emulsified composition. EFFECT:The safe composition of uniform quality having almost no skin irritation is obtained without a change in physical properties with time. USE:A hand cream, foundation, food, coating material, shoe polish, etc.
