Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a master paper which is excellent in a printing durability and enables preparation of a clear print, by providing a waterproof layer containing a pigment of specified particle size on the surface of a supporting paper body and by forming grain pattern on a hydrophilic layer located on the waterproof layer. CONSTITUTION:Hydrophobic resin 21 used as a waterproof layer, such as polyvinyl chloride and polyurethane, is formed in the surface of a supporting paper body 1. In this resin 21 is mixed a pigment 22 whose average particles size is 0.5-10mum, and titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, zinc oxide, clay or the like, which is known publicly, is adopted for the kind of particle. Thus, the waterproof layer wherein an adhesive amount of solid is about 3-15g/m<2> is formed, a hydrophilic layer 3 of gelatin, polyvinyl alcohol or the like is formed thereon, and the uppermost layer is formed to have excellent and fine convcavo-convexes. It is desirable for forming the fine concavo-convexes that the ratio of the pigment 22 to the hydrophobic resin 21 in the waterproof layer 2 is 1:1-8:1.
