Abstract
PURPOSE:To rationalize check, by amplifying respective read signals from tracks and detecting their peak positions and delaying them by an optional time and converting the phase difference between the signal from one optional reference track and that from another track to a voltage. CONSTITUTION:Signals read by a reading head 1 are amplified by an amplifier 2 and have peak positions detected by a detector 3. The peak position detector 3 generates a pulse at the time point when a peak position in the side selected by a positive/negative peak selecting circuit 8 is detected, and this pulse is sent to the input of a delay circuit 4. The delay circuit 4 generates a delay pulse after a time set by a setter 6 and sends this delay pulse to the input of a phase difference-voltage converting circuit 5. The phase difference-voltage converting circuit 5 uses the delay pulse of a track selected in a selector 9 as the reference pulse to convert the phase difference between this reference delay pulse and another delay pulse to a voltage and outputs this voltage to a multirecorder 7. This operation is performed for plural tracks simultaneously, and skew quantities of tracks to the reference tracks are recorded as voltages, and thus, the measurement time is shortened to improve the reliability of data.
