Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled damping material with excellent vibration-deadening characteristics and sealing property, suitable for vibration deadening for an automobile, etc. which is obtd. by incorporating a coarse material prepared by calcining sludge from waste water disposal and mica of a specified particle size in a base material primarily composed of an asphaltic material.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. Base material primarily composed of an asphaltic material such as straight or blown asphalt is mixed with about 15W60pts.wt. porous coarse material of small bulk specific gravity, obtd. by calcining a sludge produced in a waste water-disposal plant at 700W800°C in a furnace such as a rotary kiln, and about 5W30pts.wt. mica such as muscovite or phlogopite of particle size 10W 50 mesh, to prepare the purpose damping material. The damping material obtd. is suitably used to exert vibration-deadening effect by being heat-bonded to a door, floor, etc. of an automobile in a sheet-like form.
