Abstract

PURPOSE:To turn on a pilot lamp by detecting an electromotive force, which varies proportionally with the specific gravity (capacity) of an electrolyte, dropping to the extent that it is judged there is not capacity when a battery is unloaded, or a discharging voltage droppint down to the minimum voltage of load operation when loaded. CONSTITUTION:In case of a car storage battery, when its electromotive force drops to 12V (electrolyte specific gravity; 1.160), an engine becomes difficult to start. When a voltage during discharge drops to about 7V, the engine also becomes hard to start. Therefore, when a constant voltage element of 11V is employed, the 12V electromotive force of the unloaded storage battery develops a 1V voltage between points A and B, and between points and B and C voltage is set to the 0.6V forward drop of a transistor, etc., in an amplifying circuit 8, so that a pilot lamp 9 turns on and off at 12V. Consequently, a decrease in the capacity of the storage battery is detected without reference to whether the battery is loaded or not, knowing the degree of the life of the battery from the lighting state of the lamp.
