Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve accurate reading even at a bad environmental condition, by irradiation with a light source via a lens body having a curved plane in contact with one side surface of information medium with a punched data and using a plurality of photodetectors. CONSTITUTION:To an information medium 7 carried with carriers 1 and 2, locations forming 4-punch hole, for example, are determined with an equal pitch on one line toward the broadwise direction. Punched holes 7a are selected and 16 types of numeral information are recorded and the holes are provided for a plurality of columns with a prescribed pitch toward the moving direction of the card 7. A lens body 8 made of transparent cylindrical glass is located in parallel with rollers 3 and 5 at reading location A, and a small sized lamp 9 is provided at the upper part of the lens body 8. The light from the lamp 9 is detected one by one row with 4 sets of photodetectors 12 via a slit hole 11, the lens body 8, the card 7, and a transparent member 13. Thus, the reading of information can accurately be made even at a bad environmental condition.
