Abstract
PURPOSE:To delay and sample an analog electric signal, and to perform time- axis compressing, expansion, etc., by controlling the emission position and timing of an ultrasonic wave beam which is emitted into an acoustooptical cell for specifying position coordinates. CONSTITUTION:Amplitude modulation is imposed upon a sine wave electric signal having the resonance frequency of the 1st oscillator 2 by using an analog electric signal to be processed, and the resulting modulated signal is applied to and converted by the oscillator 2 into an ultrasonic wave signal, which is radiated into an ultrasonic wave propagation medium 5 such as a fluid. Fruther, the 2nd oscillator 3 emits an ultrasonic wave beam exclusively for specifying position coordinates at right angles to the traveling direction of said ultrasonic wave signal. Those ultrasonic wave signals cause two-dimentional grating-shaped variation in density in the medium 5 in a cell, and plane wave light is transmitted in this phase grating through light transmission windows 1 and 1' to obtain phase variation which corresponds to said amplitude-modulated sine wave signal. This light is detected optically to obtain the time-delayed signal of the analog electric signal.
