Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove spatters and slag after welding easily without producing weld defects by coating inorg. powder having heat resistance and good removability uniformly around the weld zone. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of welding, a chemical seal with the powder of an inorg. material of a high m.p. which does not produce water or steam, for example, powder of calcium carbonate or powder of natural mineral contg. these together with an injection gas such as LPG in a vessel is sprayed to around the weld zone of steel plates, whereby the coating layer by the inorg. powder is formed on the metallic surfaces. The powder is of about 10mu, more preferably about <=5mu grain sizes. In order to improve the adsorption of the inorg. powder on the metallic surfaces, it is a good practice to add a highly volatile solvent such as alcoholic org. solvent in the sealed vessel. The coating layer of the above-mentioned inorg. powder does not produce any gas during welding, hence it does not produce any weld defect, prevents sticking of spatters and slag and make their removal easy.
