Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a regenerated cellulose film containing a softener composed of urea and a glycol, which is free from hygienic problems by reducing the amount of residual solvent present in a film-forming lacquer for imparting water resistance and heat sealing property to the film.
CONSTITUTION: 10W30wt% Softener composed of 20W40wt% urea and 80W 60wt% glycol (e.g. ethylene glycol) is incorporated into regenerated cellulose film. Water resistance of regenerated cellulose film is poor and the film has no heat sealing property. Therefore, in order to impart these properties, a high-molecular film having heat sealing property is coated, and the regenerated cellulose film is used as a coated film. A solvent for a film-forming lacquer remains in the coated film, and offers undesirable hygienic problems when the film is used for food packaging, etc. But, by using said softener, the amount of residual solvent can greatly be reduced without damaging general physical properties such as tensile strength, tensile elongation, Young's modulus, heat-sealing strength, laminate strength and low temperature physical strength.
