Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a hydraulic machine by applying the cutting work on the negative pressure side in the proximity of the exit end of a runner vane thereby reducing the hydraulic open/close moment to be applied on the runner vane. CONSTITUTION:The total open/close moment Mh will function to the closing direction of the vane, while the force f0 to be applied in the proximity of the exit end of the runner vane 1 is such that since the spindle center P and the functioning point to l0 are large the moment m0 due to said force will occupay the large portion of the entire Mh. When applying the cutting work on the vane negative pressure side S along the line or curve bc connecting between a point (b) at the exit end and a point (c) on the surface S, the flow speed will locally increase to reduce f0 considerably. Consequently the open/close moment to be applied on the runner vane will be reduced considerably to reduce the capacity of the hydraulic machine.
