Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which moderates rapid temperature rise due to heating in a short time without detriorating heat resistance which a plastic originally possesses, by adding a specified material to the plastic.
CONSTITUTION: 5W40wt% org. or inorg. material is added to a plastic having good moldability such as PE or PVA, said org. or inorg. material having large latent heat and low phase transition temperature as compared with the plastic. Examples of such materials are CaCl2.6H2O and C6H4O2.
EFFECT: When short-time heating is applied to the compsn. by high power laser beam, the added material absorbs latent heat and melts. As long as the added material which is not molten is present, the temperature rise of the compsn. to a temp. higher than the melting point of the added material is inhibited. Rapid rise in temperature at the opposite surface to the heated surface can be moderated.
USE: Protective sheet for optical fiber cable.
