Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an image with superior color developability and shelf stability without using benzyl alcohol by providing a specified substituent to an acylamino group at the 2- or 5-position of the phenol ring of a 2,5-diacylaminophenol cyan coupler.
CONSTITUTION: A group represented by the formula (where R2 is alkylene, R3 is alkyl, R4 is H, alkyl or acyl, X is a group substitutable for the benzene ring, (n) is 1W3, and R3 and R4 may be a group of nonmetallic atoms forming a 5- or 6-membered ring) is provided to an acylamino group at the 2- or 5-position of phenol ring of a 2,5-diacylaminophenol cyan coupler. This cyan coupler is added to a photosensitive material or a developer, and the material is developed. A cyan image with superior heat, light and moisture resistances is obtd. at a high dye forming speed and high color developing density without using benzyl alcohol.
