Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily measure a moisture amount of a hydrous system hydraulic liquid, by a method wherein the hydrous system hydraulic liquid is dilluted with a tetrahydrofuran to measure an infrared absorbing spectrum strength. CONSTITUTION:A preparation is made on 3 or more samples in which a dillution magnification of a hydrous system hydraulic liquid, being of a similar type to that of a hydrous system hydraulic liquid to be measured and having a known moisture amount, is changed by tetrahydrofuran within a range of about 5-100 times. 4 CaF2 solid cells are prepared, tetrahydfuran is placed in one cell and a sample in other cells. As a reference of the solid cell, in which only tetrahydrofuran is placed, an infrared absorption spectrum of dilluted liquid is then measured to form a measuring line from a relation between a strength of an absorption spectrum of water and a moisture amount of dilluted liquid. Hydrous system hydraulic liquid to be measured is then dilluted with tetrahydrofuran to measure an infrared absorption spectrum, and based on a measuring line a moisture amount is computed from the strength.
