Abstract

PURPOSE: A hydrogen-adsorbing metal powder or a powder obtained by dehydrogenation of its hydrogenation product is used to adsorb and remove gas impurities in a rare gas, thus giving high-purity rare gas easily.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy adsorbing hydrogen such as Ti-Mn is mechanically pulverized or the alloy is hydrogenated, pulverized and dehydrogenated. The resultant metal powder is charged in a vessel and a crude gas is continuously fed from one side to bring the gas into efficient contact with the metal powder. Thus, gas impurities are adsorbed by the metal powder to give a high-purity rare gas easily.
