Abstract

PURPOSE:To keep an individual read width unvaried even if a space between an original and a read head is varied, by placing plural telecentric image formation lenses by spacially separating them through a half-mirror. CONSTITUTION:A luminous flux from a read line 7 of an original 1 illuminated by an illuminating lamp 2 is split in accordance with solid image pickup elements 5a, 5b, one of them transmits a half-mirror 12 and is reflected by a reflector 13, the other is reflected by the half-mirror 12, and they are made to form an image on the solid image pickup elements a, 5b by telecentric image formation lenses 10a, 10b, and are read. In this way, even if a space between the original and the read head is varied, individual read width is not varied.
