Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled concentrate useful as an antioxidant, etc. through a simple operation in good operating efficiency in high yield, by adding an alcohol to a distillate of deodorization prepared as a by-product in the deodorizing process of vegetable fats and oils, esterifying liberated acids, hydrogenating the esterified substances, fractionating the hydrogenated substances with a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: An alcohol is added to a distillate of deodorization prepared as a by-product in the deodorizing process of vegetable fats and oils, liberated acids contained in the distillate is esterified in a temperature range of preferably 70W280°C, the esterified substances are hydrogenated, and fractionated with a solvent. In the operations, the hydrogenation may proceed before the esterification. The alcohol used in the process, for example, includes a monohydric alcohol such as methanol, ethanol, etc., a polyhydric alcohol such as ethylene glycol, etc. AN alcohol such as methanol, a ketone such as acetone, etc., a mixture of it and one or more hydrocarbons, may be cited as the solvent to be used in the fractionation with a solvent.
